From its murky origins as a pagan fertility fest to a day honoring various beheaded Christian martyrs to a chocolate-infused capitalist celebration of coupling, “St. Valentine’s Day” is a weird holiday with a weird history. And we are here for getting weird.

As always, we’ll bring the Bellingham History, this time with a Valentine twist. We’re serving historical hotties, crazy confectioneries, ill-fated lovers and mad madams. And for desert, we have the scoop on “A Romance of Bellingham,” a “photo-play” starring an all local cast filmed in 1919.

As we live for local libations and love-potions, we will post recommendations for our favorite cocktail kits and DIY drink recipes for at-home celebrating, sorrow-drowning or whatever floats your boat!
